The American Institutes for Research (AIR), in collaboration with the DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education, with funding from the Organization for Cooperation and Development (OECD), is sponsoring a 1.5-day workshop that aims to train researchers in using PIAAC log files and process data. It will take place on November 4-5, 2019 in the Washington, DC area.

Training activities are designed for researchers in the fields of assessment development and adult education, with the aim to gain first insights into successful or unsuccessful task completion behaviors and the relationships of group behaviors to social, economic, and cognitive outcomes. Intermediate level of familiarity with statistical analyses (e.g., regression analysis), R statistical software, and the large-scale international or national assessments is required. The schedule includes presentations and hands-on practical exercises using PIAAC process data/log files available from the 2012 PIAAC administration.

Admission is free of charge, but application is required

Parking Information

Participants who will need parking validation should park in the LAZ parking garage below 1400 Crystal Drive.
From Crystal Drive, the parking garage will be in the glass building on the west side of the street. Enter the parking garage and take a ticket at the gate. Park on the G-1 level in any spot marked “RESERVED 24/7 AIR” or in any unmarked parking spot. You can also park in an unmarked spot on the G-2 or G-3 level. Head toward the elevators for 1400 Crystal Drive. Please note that you will not be able to access the 10th floor without a key card, so take the elevator to the 1st floor lobby and someone at the reception desk will assist you in accessing the 10th floor.

Before leaving the building, you will need to receive a validation card from the AIR reception desk on the 10th floor. You will be asked to sign your name and provide the name of the AIR contact person (see the email from organizers). AIR staff will provide a charge code to reception, so you do not need to worry about providing one. When exiting the parking garage, first insert the ticket that you received upon entering, and then, when prompted, insert the validation card.
